Was flying in the capacity of operational Air Bomber, part of a total crew of 7 in a Lancaster bomber on as operation to Stuttgart, Germany and was shot down by a German night fighter at approximatly 2:30 AM and crashed at the village of Weyersheim at a place called seeweil, about 9 miles north of Strassburg. Two crew members survived ant taken captive by the Germans
