Baptized Joseph-Philippe Paré. Son of Edmond Paré and Mélina Hébert. His mother died when he was five months old and his father never remarried. His father died the same year as him. Joseph-Philippe stated being born in Montréal on November 6, 1880 when he enlisted

Killed in action approximatly 100 days later, 16 April 1916. He, along with 5 others in the 22nd Battalion were killed by enemy artillery while in the trenches near St. Eloi.
