Alfred Lefebvre was born at Beauharnois, Quebec, on 13 May 1868. A civil employee living in Valleyfield, he was married to Robertine Avon and had a long history in the Canadian militia, stating in 1916 that he had served continuously since 1885. He was appointed Captain in the 206th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, on 10 February 1916 and was later recorded as Major. His services were recorded as no longer required and he was discharged on 16 July 1916. His surviving service file documents service in Canada.

He was appointed Captain in the 206th Battalion, C.E.F., on 10 February 1916. His pay/appointment card notes that no payments were drawn and no duty was entered. He was later recorded as Major. On 16 July 1916 his services were recorded as no longer required and he was discharged in Military District No. 4. No overseas service is documented in the surviving file.

Final QA: appointment as Captain is dated 10 Feb 1916 on pp.5 and 7. Page 5 also records 'no payments drawn' and 'no duty entered.' Page 7 records 'services no longer required' dated 16 Jul 1916, and p.15 independently states 'Discharged 16/7/16.' Separation-allowance accounting continued after discharge, including cancellations, renewals and adjustments; these entries are administrative and are not evidence of continued military service. Major is explicit on pp.1, 5, 7 and 17, but no effective promotion date appears in the surviving file, so the Major service-rank start date remains blank. No overseas movement, hospital admission, POW event or explicit medal award was identified.
