Research Notes

Armand Lefebvre was a Class One Military Service Act draftee and carpenter living at 606 Frontenac Street, Montreal. The recruit form, casualty form and medical/joined record support 12 July 1918 as his service start; the later Last Pay Certificate alone gives 11 July, which is treated as an administrative discrepancy. The index card and casualty form support 18 July 1918 as the effective date he was struck off strength as a deserter; the casualty entry was recorded 8 August, while the later Last Pay Certificate gives 7 August. The latter is preserved as a conflicting administrative date rather than replacing the effective 18 July date. The Last Pay Certificate explicitly gives cause of discharge as 'Deserter' and authority 'Court of Inquiry'. His medical history records Category A2 and 'Slight haemorrhoids'. His will dated 12 July 1918 appointed his mother Mrs. Delia Lefevre executor and left her all his property.
