Letter from Pte. S.J. Alberta

New Liskeard Speaker

Note: any spelling errors, etc. are as they appear in the original article.

Dated: March 16, 1917

Pte. S.J. Alberta
Pte. Alberta writes to his sister Agnes, from France, Feb. 19th. He enlisted at Parry Sound January, 1916, when he was sixteen years old, and is now in the trenches in France. He gave up his Sergeant's stripes to go to the front, drafting to another company. The Sergeants were to stay in England for six months study. In his letter he says he is well, and had received parcels which he had much enjoyed. From the letters we see, cake seems to reach France in the very best condition, not broken at all until it reaches the boys. Demolishment seems to begin then. He writes cheerfully, a real home letter.
